I asked him a few questions to learn more about his work:
I know I’m not the only one that loves the Geneva residence living room. What is your favorite feature you designed here and why?
It is one of my favorite works. My mission was to make a dark interior with bright and warm touches. The bright grey material of some furniture used to make the bright points and the leather material in combination of wood finishing used for the warm part. The combination of those materials and finishings made the result that I had in my mind when I started that project.
For private residences, do you stay engaged throughout the building process?
I provide all the technical drawings to my clients and for their builders use all those information so they don't actually need me during the realization. Of course when we are talking about projects for real estate companies, they use my images to sell the house and then the owner of the house decides about the Interior design.
What was an element of your client’s lifestyle you needed to incorporate? Or any special requests that you had to design into a residence?
According my clients, they are coming to me because they like my style. That means they want my personal touches into their house and their reference images are from my previous works. However, every new project has a different concept and idea. It is important to make a unique design and keep in mind the reference images as a general idea. In that case the moodboard before begin a project helps a lot to keep the same direction with my client. We could say that the result is my personal touches with my clients needs. As you understand, there is a long discussion about style, materials, needs etc. before the agreement.
What room in your house inspires you the most?
From my perspective, the living room is the most important room. It is the room that family spends most of their time in it and that's why it's the most difficult room to design. Through my design I need to reach the level that the living room inspires people not only who live in it but also those who visit it even for a short time.
Can you describe your style and what’s unique about it?
Interesting question. The style of my projects is contemporary and I'm deeply connected with it. The special part is that I combine styles according the needs of my clients but always adjust it on contemporary. Some projects are about contemporary style with classic touches, other projects are contemporary with industrial materials or pure ambience. It's always about combination of styles. That makes the result unique by itself.
What hints would you give someone who is decorating their own home?
First of all they have to make clear before even start, what style they prefer. It's difficult to design the house by yourself so you need to act by plan. Write down your steps and according what you have in your mind imagine how it will look. Once you imagine it I'm sure you will find some things that you would design differently. Now you can do some corrections in your plan without (losing) any cost. However, I will give you some psychological design tips: 1. If you want to make your Interior look bigger, add mirrors. It gives the feeling of a bigger space (illusion). 2. If the Interior has low ceiling, make the skirting board the same color as the wall. It feels higher. 3. If the Interior is small, make it bright. The dark colors make the space look smaller and the bright bigger.
